Mom

What would we do without our moms? Okay, we wouldn't have been born. They have kissed our boo-boos, wiped our tears, taught us right from wrong, protected us, and on the list goes. To me there is no more important jobs than that of a Godly mother. Think about it, the creator of the universe chose to save us by being born of a human mother

  • Luke 1:26-38 (NIV)
The Birth of Jesus Foretold 26In the sixth month, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, 27to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin's name was Mary. 28The angel went to her and said, "Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you."
29Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. 30But the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. 31You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. 32He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, 33and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end."
34"How will this be," Mary asked the angel, "since I am a virgin?"
35The angel answered, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called[a] the Son of God. 36Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be barren is in her sixth month. 37For nothing is impossible with God."
38"I am the Lord's servant," Mary answered. "May it be to me as you have said." Then the angel left her.
God thought moms were so important that one of the Ten Commandments were given for moms.
  • Exodus 20:12 (NIV)
12 "Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.

Even Paul when talking to Timothy's faith because of the Godly influence of his grandmother and mother.

  • 2 Timothy 1:5 (NIV)
5I have been reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also.

God gave moms unigue gifts, super powers that only they seem to posses, like eyes in the back of their heads, knowing when were lying, and making the boo-boos better. Thank you moms for being what God blessed and ordained you to be.

God blessed your mom with you and you with her so honor her on this Mother's Day.

Busy, Busy, Busy

I don't know about you, but it seems like I am always busy. Family, school, soccer, baseball, plays, band, two or three jobs, church, cutting grass, etc. In our family we have a hard time just sitting down to a meal together. On top of all that we have TV, cell phones, mp3 players, gaming consoles, etc. taking more of our time.

When was the last time you heard the silence? Did you even know what it was? I know sometimes while driving down the road I will turn off the radio and have some quite time with God. During that time I am reaching for the radio because it's too quite. Sound familiar?

Ironically I have been trying to do this particular blog for several weeks, but have been too busy...

Please watch this video from Tangle (previously God Tube):

The Bible says in Psalm 46:10 "Be still and know that I am God".

  • Psalm 144:4 (NIV)
4 Man is like a breath; his days are like a fleeting shadow.

We are all guilty of being to busy or distracted, but did you think that it was Satan trying to keep us too busy for our own good? Is that TV show more important than spending time talking with someone you love? Is that text or cell phone more important than spending time with God? God, the creator of everything, wants to spend uninterrupted time with you, do you have time?

  • Mark 13:33 (NIV)
33Be on guard! Be alert[a]! You do not know when that time will come.

You know we are never promised tomorrow so make the most of the time you have. Sometimes it's good to be distracted, but don't let it control you. So turn off your cell phone, ipod, computer, etc. (believe it or not you will survive) and have some quite time with God on a regular basis and see what happens.

In His service,

Steve
